It is important to recognize that young people do get stressed.
There are lots of pressures at home, work and school. You need not feel you are weak or alone if you are having difficulties – we all feel sometimes that we can’t cope.
Each person reacts to stress in a different way. Below is a list of some feelings/symptoms you may experience if you are stressed:
- Anxiety/nervousness
- Depression
- Sleeplessness
- Feeling tired most of the time
- Easy to anger or feeling angry/irritable most of the time
- Unable to concentrate
- Feeling worried all the time
- Regular headaches or stomach ache/sickness
- Back ache or physical tension
- Loss of appetite or comfort eating
- Over working
These are just some of the symptoms of stress, it is not an exhaustive list, stress can manifest itself in many ways depending on the individual.
