Self-harming and thoughts of suicide are more common than you think.  You are not alone.

Self-harm and suicide affect both men and women at different stages of their lives.

LifeLink provides free support and advice to people in crisis, who self harm and at risk of suicide in the North Glasgow area. We provide the support when people need it.

We do not offer any easy solutions; however, we do listen and have helped many people find new ways to cope.

Seeking help is not a sign of weakness; it may save your life.

LifeLink Service

Our service offers immediate one-to-one assessment, emotional and practical support to individuals identified as being at risk of suicide and/or self-harm. Our aim is to provide confidential, non-judgemental and empathic support to individuals experiencing a period of crisis, with the aim of building stability and enabling people to make more positive choices in their lives. We also act in partnership with other agencies and will often facilitate onward referral to other support services appropriate to a person’s needs. We also offer support to family, friends and carers affected by the suicide of a loved one.

LifeLink Updates

June 2006

LifeLink entered the Edinburgh Relay Marathon on Sunday 11th of June.  Many thanks to all the runners and sponsors.

March 2006

For those seeking information on self-injury and suicide click on the links below to access BBC Radio 1's One Life documentaries.  Hear first hand accounts of young people's struggles with self-injury/thoughts of suicide and some success stories.

Please look after yourself when listening to them, as it can be difficult to listen to.

People who self-harm have often been branded as 'attention-seeking' but self-harm is still mistreated and misunderstood, by professionals and friends of self-harmers alike.

In November 2004 ex-Eastenders actor Chris Parker checked into a hotel and tried to kill himself. Thankfully Chris survived, but many men who attempt the same thing don't.  Chris looks at the problem of male suicide and the reasons behind why so many young men try to end it all.

This programme contains content that could be upsetting to some listeners.
